The Project
This historic hotel sits right in the heart of downtown Chicago, one of the premier shopping and dining destinations in the country. The Intercontinental wanted to bring the energy of Michigan Avenue into their lobby - so Josh and his team designed a 1×8 full HD video wall to do exactly that.
Details
Josh and his team installed full 1080p HD pan/tilt cameras on Michigan Avenue and the hotel rooftop, streaming live feeds of the Chicago skyline directly into the lobby video wall. They programmed the camera controller with angle presets so hotel staff could get the perfect shot with a single tap.
The entire system was built on a Q-SYS control platform and configured for iPad control — simple enough for any staff member to operate. Josh's team handled everything from camera placement and video wall mounting to system programming and commissioning.
The installation won "Editor's Pick, Best of 2012 Front Desk" from Illinois Meetings & Events Magazine, and was featured on Forbes.com.
